How Louisiana WIC Supports Families

Mobile Apps

Louisiana WIC offers phone apps and websites at no charge to participants to help make your WIC journey easy. Our apps (myWIC, Pacify, and WICShopper) can be downloaded on the Apple Store or Google Play, and are available in English and Spanish.

WIC offers so many great foods to enjoy. Cereals, milk, yogurt, dried or canned beans, juice, fruits, vegetables, seafood, bread, cheese – you’ll never get bored! You can eat the foods you love while getting the best nutrition for you and your family.

Nutrition Resources & Education

WIC provides access to highly trained Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and other nutrition and breastfeeding experts, along with opportunities for you and your family to learn more about healthy eating, including in-person or virtual nutrition education classes.

WIC is healthy food, breastfeeding support, nutrition education and help with keeping YOUR family healthy! WIC can even link you to other health and social services. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is open to women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have already delivered. Infants and children under 5 years old may also receive benefits.

Referrals

Louisiana WIC offers referrals to a number of community programs, health care programs, and social services. For a list of referral services, check out our Additional Resources page here.  

Louisiana WIC benefits are redeemed using a WIC electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card. WIC families can buy as few or as many WIC foods as they want at a time. Some WIC grocery stores allow participants to use self-checkout lanes.
