This month we’re celebrating

Erika Brent

This past fall, Bilingual Peer Counselor Erika Brent received a Certificate of Merit award from Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng for “providing meaningful impact in the lives of breastfeeding mothers through her support, guidance and compassion.” We couldn’t agree more! Recently, a CPA at Erika’s clinic praised her for working with mom to change her status from Some Breastfeeding to Partial Breastfeeding. Erika shared that in that month alone, she had 6 moms change their breastfeeding status, because they were able to provide more human milk and less formula. Some moms even changed to Fully Breastfeeding! Erika’s support encourages these moms to breastfeed more and for longer. The WIC education she provides helps moms understand that breastfeeding moms get a better food package, for a longer time period, and until baby turns one. Thank you Erika for being an amazing advocate for breastfeeding and for WIC!
