January 2024 - Nutramigen Powder Formula Recall

There has been a recall of certain batches of Nutramigen Powder Formula. If you have recently purchased Nutramigen Powder Formula for your baby, check the bottom of the can for the following batch codes:

  • ZL3FHG(12.6 oz cans)
  • ZL3FMH(12.6 oz cans)
  • ZL3FPE(12.6 oz cans)
  • ZL3FQD(12.6 oz cans)
  • ZL3FRW(19.8 oz cans)
  • ZL3FXJ(12.6 oz cans)

These cans will have a UPC Code (located on the barcode of the can) of either

  • 300871239418 or
  • 300871239456

These cans will also have a “Use by Date” of “1 Jan 2025.”

If you have a can with one of the above batch codes or have questions about this recall, contact the manufacturer of Nutramigen, Mead Johnson, by either emailing consumer.relations@reckitt.com or calling 866-534-9986.

If I have a recalled can of formula, should I throw it away?

  • No, call the Mead Johnson phone number provided on our website, which is 866-534-9986, and they will give exchange instructions for all WIC participants.

If I have recalled formula cans, should I go to the grocery store I purchased them at to return it?

  • No, Mead Johnson has instructed that all WIC participants should call them at 866-534-9986 for exchange instructions. The products will be shipped from a central location.

Will I lose my benefits if I must return my recalled formula?

  • For all WIC participants, Mead Johnson will exchange the affected formula. You just need to call Mead Johnson at 866-534-9986.

Will I have to pay for shipping?

  • No, Mead Johnson has informed us that they will pay for all shipping costs.

I have Nutramigen concentrate or Nutramigen Ready to Feed (RTF), is it ok to use this formula?

  • Yes, you can safely use the liquid concentrate or RTF form of Nutramigen. Only the powder formula had some batches recalled.

Abbott Formula Recall

Beginning March 1st, 2023, Abbott formula substitutions will be discontinued by the USDA. 

The following substitutions will be affected:

  • The substitution that allows LA WIC participants to purchase non-Similac brand formula will expire on February 28th, 2023.

  • The substitution that allows LA WIC participants to purchase larger can sizes of Similac brand formulas will expire on April 30th, 2023
